From Alamo Drafthouse (Press Release)
The world’s first kaiju-themed movie theater kicks off Alamo Drafthouse and Toho International's new alliance, with exclusive merch and special programming on the way for 2025 and beyond.
We’ve got big news. Like, colossally big news. We’ve officially teamed up with the legendary kaiju masters at Japan's legendary Toho International – the home of Godzilla and a whole universe of city-stomping beasts – for a brand-new partnership that includes exclusive merch, screenings, and other surprises.
We just opened Alamo Drafthouse Valley Fair, the world’s first kaiju-themed movie theater in Santa Clara, California, but the reign of monsters doesn’t stop there. Later this year, we’ll roll out limited-edition merch and programming at Alamo Drafthouse locations nationwide – plus a full line of exclusive swag on AlamoMart.com for our fellow monster maniacs.
On November 3rd, we’re throwing a nationwide birthday party for the King of the Monsters – complete with screenings, surprises, and an avalanche of exclusive Toho gear. (Fun fact: we premiered the 4K restoration of the original Gojira back in 2021 for Godzilla’s big day, and this year we’re going even bigger.)
It wouldn’t be an Alamo x Toho collab without some jaw-dropping collectibles. Artist and longtime friend of the Drafthouse Tom Whalen has designed an official t-shirt and pint glass – available now for preorder in super limited quantities as part of our Alamo Drafthouse x Godzilla collection. Later this year, we’re adding even more to the lineup: the first-ever official Godzilla popcorn bucket, a gorgeous Mothra mug from our Art Director Scott Sugiuchi, plus blankets, hats, enamel pins, and more. Keep your eyes on our socials, email list, and AlamoMart.com for updates.
So charge up your tail beam and join us as we kick off a new era of cinematic monster worship. Godzilla has arrived at Alamo — and he’s here to stay.
